An inn and estate with tradition
The dynamic drive of our ancestors is our role model
The Ochsenwirtshof looks back on a long history. The inn, which was at the same time a farm estate, has been in business since 1750. The farming and labor-intensive work demanded a great deal of dedication, as a guest and pastor of the time, Heinrich Hansjakob, noted with slight amusement in a book. The maid would have no time to pray in addition to running the farm and caring for the pigs, calves and oxen. It was not until 1950, with the economic boom and awakened tourism, that the situation changed. The driveway to the hayloft became an indoor swimming pool, the hayloft itself was turned into guest rooms, the potato field became a tennis court – all thanks to the hardworking hands of our grandparents and parents.
Since the reconstruction, after the fire in 1928, a lot of remodeling and modernization has been done to create well-being and recreation for the guests, with simultaneous attachment to tradition – a guiding goal that we still follow today. The atmosphere that pastor and poet Hansjakob found in the Ochsenwirtshof 100 years ago, he describes as a grandiose landscape, combined with family hospitality. Our world has changed radically since then, but not the need and necessity to relax body and soul. Our Black Forest has remained a jewel and we would like to invite you to experience some of its most beautiful sides with us.
